We welcome you to add your thoughts and comments about what Veterans Day means to you, about people who serve or have served in the U.S. Military, along with how you and your family honored the Holiday. All the wonderful things that we as Americans have and can do, that we would not have if Veterans had not fought for itVeterans Day is a day of recalling memories, both good and bad of friends who have gone on to the final formation, and events that have been both rewarding and very humbling. Also, it is a chance to remind myself, and others around me, of all the wonderful things that we as Americans have and can do, that we would not have if Veterans had not fought for it.

Importance of the military for protectionVeterans Day still puts visions of parades in my mind even if the city doesn't always have a parade. It also lets us show the older veterans and the new veterans that we appreciate them & the things they do to keep our privileges & rights safe. A lot of people that have never been in the military take our freedoms for granted. Even after 9/11/01, people still believe we could never be conquered. Well, to them I say, if we didn't have the military, other countries could just walk right in & take over!! The terrorists attacked US!! Now we're taking the war to them. They asked for it. So let's show the veterans how much we are behind them. Semper Fi

I proudly served my country in the Marines from 1970 - 1976. My father proudly served his country from 1941-1945, my father-in-law served our country from 1944-1947 and my grandfather proudly served and was wounded three times in the war to end all wars from 1917-1919. And my wife lost an uncle in the Pacific during WWII.
Veterans Day means so much to me and my entire family. We come from a long line of patriotic people and we recognize the sacrifices we all made and the ultimate sacrifices many made with their lives.
We should show our support to past and current men and women serving our country proudly.
So on Veterans Day, raise your flag proudly, salute it and pat a veteran on the back - for a job well done.
I am very thankful for all of the men and women who have fought to give us the freedom we have today.
I am very thankful for all of the men and women who have fought to give us the freedom we have today.
I am very thankful for all of the men and women who have fought to give us the freedom we have today.
God has blessed America,

Thank you so much! You are not forgotten by us!I am thankful for the veterans that have served and fought for us! I am also very proud to have known such a man and a hero in my eyes - my brother! I lost my brother August 14 of this year! He died of a massive heart attack at the age of 55. My heart is empty -! He was a Vietnam vet and fought in some of the rough battles over there! He was a proud soldier and Memorial Day and Veterans Day were extremely important to him! All he ever wanted as thanks was his name on the wall (Vietnam) at our local cemetery. They will not accommodate us (his family) because you must be buried at their site. We chose to have him buried next to our father at another cemetery. However,
he will never be forgotten in our hearts and he, as my brother, touched my life! I thank god for him as an Army Vet and I thank god for all of our veterans out there! Thank you so much! You are not forgotten by us!

Fellow veterans both male and female.First and foremost,
I want to give thanks and honor all my fellow veterans who served in the military whether voluntarily or involuntarily. I appreciate you, your families and your service to this country.
I want to give a special thanks to all my sister veterans. It takes a special kind of woman to wear a military uniform and combat boots and serve alongside their male counterparts. Kudos to those of you, like myself, who were soldiers and even managed to juggle being a mom and wife through it all.
There are some that don't realize the privileges they get to enjoy in this country because of the sacrifices and dedicated service of the military. I just want to say although it's nice to have a day set aside to honor us, I appreciate us 24/7/365. God bless and thank each and every one who served.

Rememberance Day very seriouslyI am a vietnam vet, and take veterans day or what we call Rememberance Day very seriously. I have been putting a dislpay on and read Rememberance Day poems for the last 3 years at the church which I attend. This year here in Canada it is the year of the veterans and I intend to involve the children. Anyone that is in the close proximity to our church is very welcome to attend. It is St. Andrews Pres. church in Petrolia,Ont. Canada. Everyone is invited to attend if they wish you would be more than welcome to join us.
Thank You

We, as a free nation, should be ever grateful for our veterans. On Veterans Day, as on other Armed Forces related holidays, I think about the sacrifices that our men and women have made, and still are making, to keep our great country free. Freedom isn't free, and many have proudly paid the ultimate price for us. We, as a free nation, should be ever grateful for our veterans......past and present. May God hold them all in His palm.

When I think about my retired Navy Father. who was inspired by three years that his father served, Grand pa norris always talked about the time he spent in war like it was funny, the way he explained things. when Grandpa started talking about his old buddies he would get a tear in his eye, asking why he made it and not all his friends. My Father was in during Korea and Vietnam G.E Norris his name is in the book, and then to know him we as childern couldn"t except his abuse. as I grew and went into the Army, fighting for the same thing as my Father and Grandfather well last year I buried my Mother and my father in a National Cemetary and I can tell everyone that although I am a DAV and couldnt do 30yrs. I still wish I could have thanked my Father while he was alive, becouse you dont know much if you dont ask. On Veterans day go out maybe to a vet Hospital and thank some Hero for what he"s done for you. R Norris

Forever a veteran. From Armistice to Veterans, as one veteran to all, I salute you all!! We should honor ourselves' for keeping our flag free and secure, we are the courageous men and women who fought and died for the idealism of liberty and freedom for all.
I thank you veterans for not being selfish with your lives and believing in our nation's freedom.
And, for those in the tomb of the unknowns, thank you for the historical significance you've made. We will celebrate and honor our unknown American veterans of all wars and for their patriotism, love of nation, and sacrifice you and your families have made for the common good of our nation.
May we laugh, cry and remember on this day, November 11th, our experiences and memories.
It was the veteran, who saluted our flag, who served under our flag and who will be remembered under our nation's flag.
Richard A. Zelonis (USN/USA)- This veteran may fade, yet this veteran will not run.
-Forever a Veteran.

Veteran?s Day - a day to shop?
Sales galore and Mall?s to hop.
Some are off while others toil.
Did we forget those called to protect our soil?
A day to remember is a better choice.
Not all returned and cannot voice
The roles they played to makes us free,
And gave so much we all agree.
November 11th is just a day
But, we need to reflect and often pray.
So many gave all they had
And lost their lives it is so sad.
Don?t forget on this holiday eve
All who sacrificed so we are free.
Take a moment to remember them,
And thank a vet for they remember when.

Thoughts on Veterans? Day
They leave home with excitement in their breast beating,
A journey into adulthood of grand adventure dreaming.
A band of brothers soon they will be.
Standing proud and tall, fearless and free.
With a grin, gung-ho, a slap on the back,
Buddies for life; they charge into combat;
They kill and on the adrenaline edge they?re alive.
And mourn those who yet did not survive.
Hard eyed, tight jawed they return old men,
And in their dreams fight the battles again.
The wives, sweethearts, family and friends who remain
At home also serve who stand and wait; their love sustains.
The placard waving crowd shares too in freedom?s light,
But those who serve the flag know what they do is right.
And those who learn war but love peace
Ask for their ultimate sacrifice
Not that God be on their side,
But that they be on God?s.
