Any serviceman eligible for retirement benefits or has re-enlisted with the intention of staying in long enough to become eligible for retirement benefits.

Field Day:
To clean up an area,cleaning your room each week.
|
|||
GRF:
Giant Rat F**k...Large scale operation against VC/NVA.
|
|||
Maggie's Drawers:
Missing entire target at firing range.
|
|||
Ate Up:
Full-on hard core military person (usually first timers).
|
|||
The 6 P's:
Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.
|
|||
A "Dear John" Letter:
A letter from a girlfriend, informing a Service Man that "it's all over; I'm dating another guy."
|
|||
"Go tell it to the chaplain":
A "brush off"; "don't tell us your problems."
|
|||
Mess Kit:
An aluminum vessel with a lid containing aluminum knife, fork, spoon, for eating field rations (meals) from. It fits into olive drab pouch.

|||
"Fatigues":
Army field or duty uniform. Now replaced by "Camos".
|
|||
Cadre:
The training contingent leading trainees at a Basic (boot) Training facility.
|
|||
TDY:
Army assignment on "Temporary Duty".
|
|||
Retreat Formation:
Last Army "formation" of the day, in ranks, for posting of the colors.
