Snipe:
Anyone working below decks in engine area.

Black shoe Navy:
Navy pilots.

Brown shoe Navy:
Non aviation officer, chief, CWO.

In Country:
Those serving on land or river patrol in VietNam.

Swimmer:
Viet Cong in water attempting to place explosive charge on ship's hull.

Chain Locker:
Area below decks where anchor chain is stored.

Boot Ensign:
Just commissioned & at first duty station.
