When I think of Memorial Day, it brings to my mind a Holiday to show our respect to love ones lost tat have made the ultimate sacrifice, and have laid down their lives so we may be free. We give time to reflect, honor and give thanks to the many heroic men and women who are no longer with us. We also would like to give thanks to our active military and Veterans, who have and currently are protecting our American nation. May to me is Veteran's Month. V-E day May 7,8 1945. Armed Forces Day always the 3rd Saturday of May, and of course, Memorial Day. May I take this opportunity to say Well Done to all of our Veterans. My Dad, Russell O. Whiteleather, Army WWII, My Brother Russell J. Whiteleather, Marines Vietnam, My Brother Richard A. Whiteleather, Marine Philippines. Thank God for our Veterans - America's Great Treasure. God Save the United States of America ,My Husband and his best friend joined right out high school on the buddy plan.Charles stayed in the army nad his best friend ; Eric Wayne Johnson eunded up in 101st Airborne divison and died in a peace zone and his name on the wall in downtown jax. fl .My husband died from bad kidneys from Vietnam at 36 in 1984. I now raise My grandson named after my husband and his best friend ; Charles eric and I have explained and his grandfather and eric and he tells kids at school and I found Peace in My lost and I pray everyone finds theirs and god bless..

I would like to remember a friend of mine, Charles Holbrook Jr., who died in the Vietnam War. He was my first boyfriend and I was sorry that he lost his life in Pleiku, Vietnam in September 1968. I will always remember you.

I want to remember my Dad, Eugene A. Vestal, who served in World War II in the Army. He was in Panama, England and then he served in some parts of the United States. He died of Pneumonia in 1998 when he was 82. He spent 15 years in the Army and that was all he spoke of when he came home. I know that he is in heaven with my Mom probably talking with all the other veterans. God keep both he and my mom in your loving arms. I WILL REMEMBER YOU ALWAYS. Love, your daughter Anita

Jack Robinson was killed at Iwo Jima in WWII. He was the brother of the Marine I(also a Marine) was about to marry, Armon W. Robinson. The WWII Veterans Memorial in D.C. is a perfect place to visit during this sad holiday.

On Memorial day, it is a solemn day for me. I am a U.S. Navy veteran cook if you will 1987-1995. Just recently back in February 15th of 2006, we our the family Corrells, and laid my Uncle to rest whose name name was Bryson Richard Correll. He was a Vietnam veteran who served at Cam Rahn Bay Naval Air Station in the 615th fighter tactical squadron he was a sergeant. He passed away from cancer due to complications from agent orange so all in all he sacrificed his life later on down the road after Vietnam. I will never forget him and all the soldiers, sailors, airmen and all who gave their all then and now. God Bless everyone who ever put on the uniform and to all good people because I will always love my country. If I had to go defend her even today I would. Thanks for your time and attention.

Please share this poem I wrote, in honor of all war veterans & their families. My way of saying, THANK YOU ALL! What American Means to Me I guess the best way to describe how I feel, Is the Freedom America has made for us real. Freedom to speak what is just on your mind! Freedom of Religion, (All)faiths you will find! Freedom to travel wherever you may! Freedom to leave, Freedom to stay! No soldiers in streets, or walls built up high! Just wide open country, Free open sky! We can sleep without fear! We can read any book! We can express any feeling! We can choose how we look! Our children can laugh! Our children can sing! My father served in the Army in WWII, in France, Germany and Holland. I served on Guam at the Naval Hospital and in Viet Nam as a Field Medic attached to a Marine Combat Grunt Unit Fox 2/4, and now suffer from many conditions from being there. I served my Country well and now I go through hell. My son served in Germany, Kosovo, Korea and Iraq and is now back in Germany. Both my son's are my Heroes. I will give a moment of silence for my father as my son's may do for me one day.

On this special Day, I will remember all Veterans especially my dad who was in WWII in Army Intelligence in France. Also Lt Bob rice who died in Vietnam who was to be my brother in law, but died a brave Leader for all of us.

The sacrifices of our fathers, mothers and brother Veterans. I served in Vietnam RVAH7 on board the Kitty Hawk. My eldest son was in the 3rd ID 7th cal and saw combat in Iraq. We are proud of our service and honor those who did give their lives for us all. I am a life member of the VFW and Veterans of the Vietnam War. I am currently an Asst. Scout Master with BSA Troop 400, Ivyland PA. We will be spending part of our Memorial Day observation planting flags at a local cemetery for our honored dead. It is amazing to see the Scouts read the markers and see the names and ages of those who died so young. When the realization hits them, you can see that they begin to understand what this day truly means, and that it will not be forgotten in the future!

I love this Country and served 22 years in the Armed Forces - in both the Navy and Air Force. I was called up for Iraq twice and each time just before deployment - they were canceled. I would have willingly gone not knowing the outcome as so many have before me. I too have a Wife and Children and knew that sacrifice that might be asked of me. As so many have said, FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. I am so proud of the Service Men & Women that serve our Nation - they must never be forgotten by its People. I will support the armed service every chance I get until I take my last breath in this Great Nation - THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We stand for Freedom and equality for all Men & Women. I am so proud to be a Citizen of the United States. I urge all People of this Nation to make donations to the Armed Forces and especially those that gave so much once they return Home.

When I think of Memorial Day I think of my Dad Lorenzo Hudson(WWII, U.S Army). When I sit back and listen to my Dad's War stories I think to myself I'm so Proud of my Dad who had the Courage to fight for our Country, he is my HERO always and forever. Also, to the other Men and Women who fought for our Country this is a Day of Remembrance for All of You. YOU ALL ARE HEROES!
